I have decided that this year I am going on a fabric fast and not buying fabric for an entire year. I can already see my friends laughing their heads off as I am saying this as they know how serious my fabric addiction is. The reality is that I have more fabric that I could sew up in two lifetimes. I always say I can’t die til, I have sewed up all my fabric, so I guess I will be around for the next 200 years!
Today I spent some time sorting through my fabrics and deciding what I am going to sew this year. Some of these fabrics I have had for 10+ years.
People who know me know that I love taking small pieces of fabric and piecing them together to create a garment. These are pieces I found at Promenade and I plan to make a skirt like the one in this Burda pattern, but with more pieces.
These are two brocades that I saw on Promenade’s website and my addiction kicked in and I just had to have them. I plan to make two party dresses. Definitely one using V8997 after seeing the dresses Sarah Gunn and Julie Starr made from this pattern and from beautiful brocades. You never know when you might need a party dress.
My fabric collection is vast so these are a few photos of fabrics and patterns I plan to use for blouses and shirts. My go to shirt pattern is the Grainline Archer shirt pattern. My friend Karen made up V9110 and I loved it. I plan to make it in the fabric with shoes on it.
I guess I can justify my addiction by saying I buy fabric faster than I can sew! Now I have to try and sew up what I have accumulated, which as you can see, is quite a diverse and amazing collection.
As always, I will keep you posted on my progress.
Until next time. Happy 2020. Here’s to a year of productive sewing!
